Christine Plasencia
Orchestra Director & Music Instructor
Christine M. Plasencia took her Bachelors of Applied Arts from Central Michigan University in Violin Performance. She continued her studies in music education and violin performance under Michael Barta at Southern Illinois University. During this time she was an in-demand performer, playing with the Springfield Symphony, Saginaw Symphony, and Memphis Symphony, amongst others.
Ms. Plasencia taught violin at the juvenile detention center in Ventura and Oxnard from 2003-2013. She also worked with Paul Plasencia from 2010-2012 to establish the Harmony Project at Sheridan Way Elementary School in Ventura.
Having taught privately for over twenty years, she uses various methods, including Suzuki, Mark O’Connor and traditional methods, to meet the needs of each particular student. She currently teaches violin, viola, cello, and piano out of studios in Ventura, Oxnard, and Santa Paula. Ms. Plasencia was the Orchestra Director at St. John’s Lutheran School in Oxnard for 11 years, from 2008-2019. Currently she is the Orchestra Director at Our Lady of Guadalupe School in Oxnard, CA. Programs offered to charter school students are non-religious.
